Well, well, well, we've finally gotten into the "HOT" part of the season. Yesterday was certainly one of, if not the warmest days of the year, and today is going to give it a run for the money. Next week is looking like it could possibly get even warmer, so it's time for some friendly reminders.
Stay hydrated. This is probably the most important thing to remember during the spring/summer season in Alabama. Stay Hydrated, drink water, gatorade or equivalent, and remember that coffee, sodas, alcohol are not the ways to stay hydrated. Alcohol and caffeine, although tasty, will not properly restore your body's fluid levels. Sports drinks, water, V8, coconut water, etc. are a few of the beverages that restore lost potassium, sodium and such. And even if you think your not sweating alot, remember that we have the most sweat glands in our feet, so sometimes it's hard to judge exactly how much body fluid we're losing. Also monitor your urine. Dark yellow indicates the need to replenish body fluids.
Take breaks when working in the yard, or out in the sun. Wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun. Use sunscreen around the lake, pools or beach. Try to avoid getting sunburned. Not a fun experience for sure.
Keep your AC unit running properly, change filters, have it serviced, remember that, in most cases, your system will only have a 25 degree or so differential from the actual temperature.
Be careful, and call us if you need your AC checked.
